Meeting Types

As we grow, the meeting format and types are subject to change.

Live and On-line Meetings

Our program is made up of both live and online meetings. Online meetings are convenient, but there is no substitution for an in-person meeting. Live in-person meetings can be very powerful. We look forward to our F.A. family setting up meetings at churches and other venues to allow them to do meetings in person. Foster homes may welcome the opportunity to host live meetings for fosters in their area. We take the initiative as part of our service work. Usually, churches and schools are very welcoming and offer up a room at no cost. We would like to have as many live meetings as possible.

Open Meetings vs. Closed Meetings

  • Open meetings are open to anyone interested in the program.
    • People of all ages that have been dealing with their behaviors and are seeking a solution
    • People who are in the F.A. program
    • Family or friends who have an interest in learning about and supporting Foster Anonymous
  • Closed Meetings provide a safe haven for F.A. members to open up freely, knowing they are among their fellows dealing with the same behaviors.
    • Closed meetings are set up in different groups at age-appropriate levels
    • All persons attending a closed meeting will be authenticated prior to entering an online meeting

12-Step Meetings

12-Step Meetings are held once a week for each group. They are either Open or Closed Meetings.

  • We read and discuss one step each week. Once we’ve gone through steps 1 -12, we start over with the first step and move through them again.

Regular Meetings

Regular Meetings are held throughout the week as scheduled. They are either Open or Closed Meetings.

  • The Chairperson comes up with the topic, opens the book and finds a topic, or asks if anybody has a need to share.

Speaker Meetings

Speaker Meetings are open to the entire community to attend unless it is an age-appropriate meeting and set as closed. The format of a Speaker Meeting is to have a member or members share their story. The speakers share their experiences, strength, and hope as they have gone through the 12-Step program.

One-on-One meetings

The one-on-one meetings are private meetings between the Sponsor and Sponsee.

How to Set up a New Group Meeting

We seek to grow our new family and be of service to our Foster Care Community. Growing our new family starts with gaining support from other F.A. members with a common interest. We attend in-person and virtual meetings and let others know we are looking to start a new group. We gather interest and come to the https://www.faservices.org site to initiate a request.

If you are interested in starting up a new group based upon a common interest or new meeting type, complete the form below to request a new group:

If you are 18+, you don’t need a legal guardian to sign up a new meeting. If you are under 18 years old, ask your foster parent, social worker, or legal guardian to sign up a meeting. We rely on foster parents, social workers, or any other licensed person to set up meetings. Even though they don’t attend the meetings, they are readily available if they are needed.
